I’m John Brake, a professional guitarist and Berklee College of Music graduate offering personalized, one-on-one guitar lessons in Gig Harbor.

Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time or looking to take your playing further, lessons are built around your goals and the music you love. Through songs, technique, music theory, ear training, and improvisation, you’ll develop the skills and confidence to become a more complete musician—while keeping the process enjoyable, motivating, and inspiring.

  • In 2022 I graduated from Berklee with a degree in Guitar Performance.

    While at Berklee I studied, performed, and recorded with some of the most talented and accomplished musicians in the world.

  • Along with teaching, I remain active as a working musician.

    I run a company that provides live music for weddings and events, perform with regional artists, and regularly perform solo guitar throughout the South Sound.

  • Every week I maintain and update my students’ lesson notebook.

    This helps us stay on track with a tailored, customized lesson plan.

  • I’m happy to offer lessons to everybody!

    Children, teens, and adults, as well as beginners, intermediate, and advanced players are all welcome.
